Special Girl Scout Days

Girl Scout calendar year is from October 1st through September 30th. Troops, girls, and adult volunteers are required to re-register before October 1st of each year to be eligible for support and coverage from Girl Scout USA.

Founder’s Day: October 31
The day Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday is celebrated – 1860.

World Thinking Day: February 22
Celebrates the birthdays of Girl Guide/Girl Scout founder Robert, Lord Baden-Powell (1857–1941) and World Chief Guide Olave, Lady Baden-Powell (1889–1977). It is a day of international friendship and an opportunity to speak out on issues that affect us.

National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend: Feb 21st-23rd

Girl Scout Week: The week in which March 12, Girl Scout Birthday falls. Celebrates the first Girl Scout meeting in the United States in 1912. 

Girl Scout Birthday/National Girl Scout Day: March 12
Commemorates the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia. 

Girl Scout Sunday and Sabbath: Usually the same week as Girl Scout week
Give girls an opportunity to attend their place of worship and be recognized as a Girl Scout.

Leader Appreciation & Earth Day: April 22
A special day to thank volunteers for all they do. We’ll be celebrating YOU!

National Trails Day: June 7, 2025
National Trails Day on the first Saturday in June recognizes all the incredible benefits federal, state and local trails provide for recreation and exposure nature. 

National Bridging Week: First week in June
Many troops hold their bridging ceremony in May or June, and some tie it to the end of the girls’ current school year. You may also choose to deepen your girls’ connection with their Girl Scout sisters by holding your ceremony during National Bridging Week.

National S’mores Day: August 10
A Girl Scout tradition celebrated every year or anytime!
